Dot NAME Domain Name Registrations

Set up in 2001, the .NAME gTLD is the single TLD meant for personal websites only. These domains can include personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other titles people are famous by. At the beginning, solely 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you wished to order john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already taken 3rd-level domains remained functional.
